Neumünster (TV): Breeders are requested to submit an application for a special permit to the breeding directorate prior to mating a mare with a Thoroughbred or Arabian stallion that is not recognized by the Trakehner Association and is therefore not listed in the stallion distribution plan. In principle, it is recommended to contact the studbook department if a stallion not listed in the current stallion distribution plan is to be used for breeding. This is intended to protect breeders in particular from potential higher costs or problems during foal registration. Furthermore, it allows the breeding association to better fulfill its advisory role for breeders.

The application for a special breeding permit must be made in writing (email to rosenthal@trakehner-verband.de or fax 0 43 21 – 90 27 19), specifying the mare in question and the chosen stallion. If the application is granted, the breeder will be charged EUR 100.00 upon registration of a foal in the following year, in accordance with the current fee schedule. A special breeding permit applies only to the specific breeding requested and is not transferable to further breedings by the same stallion.
