Prefix/Suffix Regulation in the Trakehner Association
Neumünster (TV): A prefix is an addition before a horse’s name, and a suffix is an addition after a horse’s name. Since 2007, the Trakehner Association has offered the option to register a prefix or suffix for breeding mares. At the General Assembly in Potsdam in 2015, a fee of EUR 50 was decided for this. This fee is payable per mare that receives a name addition. The Trakehner Association protects this prefix/suffix within German Trakehner breeding. An example: Stud Waldsee wishes to register its mare as “Hera vom Waldsee”. If the suffix “vom Waldsee” is still available, the mare can receive this suffix. From that moment on, only Stud Waldsee can apply for this suffix “vom Waldsee” for its mares. Questions regarding this topic will be answered by Ms. Rosenthal (0 43 21 – 90 27 16) and Ms. Hennies (0 43 21 – 90 27 15) from the Studbook Department.
