On Saturday, July 7, an auction of approximately 20 elite foals will take place in Hanover as part of the Trakehner National Show. The youngsters, previously selected nationwide at various foal inspection sites in the breeding districts of the Trakehner Association, represent a promising future not only for the athletes in Hanover but also for the breeders.

Results of the 2018 Foal Auction
A crackling auction atmosphere allows over 20 elite foals, which were rigorously selected by the Trakehner Association again this year, to shine. They must be athletic and powerful in their movement to make it into the auction lot, clearly exhibit the Trakehner type, and be equipped with a promising pedigree for a potential breeding future: At the National Show Foal Auction, one can acquire future licensed stallions and premium mares, as well as modern sport partners for tomorrow.
Six fillies and 16 colts made it into the auction lot. A total of 16 sires are represented, including, for example, the debutants Zauberreigen, His Moment, Freiherr von Stein, Unicato, and Rhenium. Finckenstein TSF, highly successful internationally in Grand Prix, sends a daughter, while the 2017 Champion Stallion, His Moment, and the sought-after sire Helium are each represented by two offspring. The great sire Sixtus, himself retired from breeding since last year, acts as a dam’s sire for toughness and athleticism and passes on his genes also through the sires Schwarzgold and Berlusconi. The former star sire and number one in the world rankings, Gribaldi, presents a desirable offer through his son Rheinklang. Le Rouge, once Trakehner Champion Stallion and now a Grand Prix hero, also sends a daughter, while Impetus and his son Mescalero each present a colt for auction.
Dressage bloodlines are clearly in the majority at the National Show Foal Auction, but offers for friends of eventing or show jumping are also present: Davidas, celebrated jumping champion of his licensing, and Lebenstraum, successful in eventing in Austria, debut with exquisitely bred daughters that represent something very special for both riders and breeders.
The auction foals will be presented for the first time on Friday afternoon at 4:00 PM. Another brief presentation will follow on Saturday noon at 12:00 PM. On Saturday evening, the tournament hotel Fora invites guests to free beer at the main showground before the auction, and at 7:30 PM, the moment finally arrives: star auctioneer Uwe Heckmann steps onto the auction podium… and the evening can begin!
