The Procedure of a Central Mare Registration

The owners of the mares to be registered first check in at the registration desk on site, where they submit the horse passport/pedigree certificate of the mare and receive the head number. A mare can only be registered if the owner is a member of the Trakehner Association. Owners are requested to register their mares with the head office before the registration in any case, or to notify the studbook department immediately of any changes regarding the desired registration location (Tel. 0 43 21-90 27 15). The participating mares have the opportunity at all dates to participate in voluntary free jumping.

The mare is presented as follows:

Measuring (height at withers, cannon bone circumference in cm, and marking verification)
Free movement and voluntary free jumping (bandages, boots, and bell boots permitted)
Presentation on the triangle in hand
Class ring at walk in hand
Possible final ring (with appropriate conformation quality)
Collection of passport at the registration desk

Breeders are not bound to the regional registration date of their breeding district when presenting their mares; however, the champion mare of the Central Registration can only come from the hosting breeding district. It is not excluded that the best mare of the show may come from another breeding district, but despite the best evaluation cannot become champion mare. Within the breeding districts and registration dates, mares are arranged by birth year and within birth years in alphabetical order of sires (Thoroughbred offspring are listed first in the alphabet).

At each registration date, mares are divided into

a) three-year-old mares
b) four-year-old and older mares.

The focus is on the three-year-old mares, among whom the champion mare of the registration date is also selected. After the registration is completed, each breeder collects a copy of their inspection with measurements and scores and the horse passport of their mare at the registration desk. The registration stickers are affixed directly on site in the passports. Only in special exceptional cases are passports retained and handed over to the head office for further processing.

You have a Thoroughbred or Arabian mare that is interesting for breeding and sport and would like to breed with her? Then you are welcome to contact the Trakehner Association. In addition to free breeding advice for a Trakehner stallion, you can also have your mare registered as a broodmare at our central registration venues in May and June. Why present a mare for registration?

From a marketing perspective: The mare is to be sold or at least there is an option to market the mare? The first steps are taken at the official association dates. A member of the breeding management is on site and examines the mares.
On site, the commission can provide advice on breeding and/or training of the mare.
Professional photo and video material is created at all dates, which can be purchased.
At the events, selection takes place for the Trakehner Auction and/or the Free Jumping Cup as part of the Trakehner Stallion Market.
The presented mares can earn the title of champion mare, best jumping mare, best part-bred mare, or best four-year-old.
A mare can receive a premium candidacy with appropriate quality.
Assistance: The young breeders can braid on site and present the mare
