Congratulations to owner Christine Turner and breeders Tim and Cheryl Holekamp!
“Thomas” has racked up a great deal of awards and prestige throughout his career. Most notably, winning Team and Individual Gold Medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, along with being Reserve Champion and National Champion at the 2019 Land Rover Kentucky CCI*****, both with Boyd Martin in the irons. Thomas has now entered the history books, becoming the first US-bred Trakehner to be awarded the TSF.
From the Trakehner Verband: “The Trakehner horse is more than just a breeding line within the German breeding area. It is a cultural treasure which the Association for the Promotion of the Trakehner (Trakehner Förderverein) is especially committed to fostering. The objective of the non-profit association financed by donations and members’ fees includes advancing the role of Trakehners in sports. That is why the Trakehner Sport Horse Promotion Programme (Trakehner Sportpferde Förderung or TSF) has set itself the ambitious aim of placing promising young horses in top-class riders’ stables, at the right time.”
Along with aiding the development of young horses who show significant promise, TSF is also awarded to already high-level Trakehners who show promise to win at the highest level of their sport.
In short, the TSF suffix designates a horse who has become a torchbearer for the breed, which Thomas has certainty become.
